How MoonSignal works, why it was built, and what gives it an edge.
MoonSignal was built to give disciplined swing traders a systematic edge. Most traders don't lose because they lack skill — they lose because they lack intelligence. They enter positions blind, chasing momentum they're already late to, with no structured exit plan.
MoonSignal intercepts early-stage retail chatter before it becomes price action, filters it through technical criteria, and surfaces 0–3 high-probability trade setups each morning before the US market opens.
Every day, MoonSignal monitors external Reddit planets — r/WallStreetBets, r/stocks, r/investing, r/options, and others — scanning thousands of posts for unusual chatter around specific tickers.
When mention volume for a stock spikes significantly above its 7-day baseline, that's a detection event. It means retail interest is building before a visible move on the chart. The crowd is often early — and that early signal is the intelligence we're after.
StockTwits trending data is also scanned as a secondary source, giving cross-platform confirmation that a ticker is genuinely gaining attention and not just noise from a single subreddit.
For each detected ticker, MoonSignal calculates a launch window using recent price history. The entry point is set near a known support level. The stop loss is placed below that support. Target 2 is set near the next resistance level.
A mission only gets authorized when the reward-to-risk ratio reaches 2.3:1 — meaning the distance from entry to Target 2 is 2.3× the distance from entry to the stop loss. This is a hard filter. No clear trajectory, no launch.
A machine learning model also scores the chart pattern quality, contributing to the final mission ranking alongside mention velocity, sentiment weight, and source diversity.
High chatter volume tells us a stock is about to move. Sentiment tells us which direction.
MoonSignal runs a two-layer analysis on every intercepted post. First, VADER — a fast lexical sentiment scorer — gives an immediate read on tone. Then Claude AI processes the top posts in depth, identifying bullish or bearish consensus with context that simple word-scoring misses.
Entries are straightforward. Exits are where most traders give back gains. MoonSignal uses a structured two-stage exit to lock in profit while staying in the trade for maximum upside.
The edge comes from combining crowd intelligence with a disciplined entry framework. Reddit traders — often without realizing it — front-run institutional flows. They discuss earnings rumors, unusual options activity, and technical setups hours or days before price reacts visibly.
By the time a spike shows up on a volume chart, the signal has already been in the chatter. MoonSignal captures that early signal and pairs it with a 2.3:1 risk structure so that even with a standard win rate, the strategy is mathematically profitable over time.
This is not a guarantee of profit on every trade. It is a systematic process designed to shift the odds in your favor — one disciplined mission at a time.
